The eagle in ancient Egypt
The eagle was not considered a sacred animal in ancient Egypt. There was no Egyptian name for eagle. Eagle mummies have been found, but always in connection with the sacred falcons and vultures.
Among the numerous falcon mummies, birds of prey related to them were also found, e.g. E.g. sparrowhawk, hawk, buzzard and eagle. For the ancient Egyptians, however, these species belonged to the falcon, because there was no separate generic term for them at the time.
